Privacy Notice
Well Services App is a field reference, calculator, training and community app operated by Ronald Niddrie. This policy explains what information the app and companion web version may collect and how it is used.
Important: Well Services App is a quick-reference and training aid. It is not a substitute for approved company procedures, current manufacturer data, or site-specific well control requirements.
Information We Collect
- App usage information: the app may record which sections are opened, the platform used, the date/time, and a random install identifier. This does not include your name, email, location, well figures, or entered calculations.
- Saved app data: saved wells, Tally Books, selected equipment, IWCF training progress, rotation calendar settings, and similar preferences may be stored locally on your device or browser.
- Optional account sync: in the web app, you may choose to save account copies of your saved wells, Tally Books, IWCF progress, and My Kit selections in Supabase. Account sync is off by default and signing in does not upload existing browser data. The original spreadsheet file used for a schematic import is not uploaded.
- Community content: if you use community features, the app may collect posts, replies, chat messages, expert questions, reports, a nickname, and a random user identifier used for moderation.
- Web sign-in information: the companion web app may use Supabase email/password sign-in for authorised web users. Account authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Subscription information: Paddle handles checkout and payment details as merchant of record. We may receive account, customer, subscription and entitlement information needed to provide access, but we do not receive your full card details.
- Device notifications: the iOS app may ask for notification permission for community badges or updates. You can manage this in iOS Settings.
Accounts and Sign-In
The iOS app does not require Apple Sign-In for normal field-reference use. Some community and companion web features may use a nickname, random user identifier, or Supabase-managed account. If Apple Sign-In or another account provider is added later, this policy will be updated before release.
Account Sync
Account sync is optional and controlled separately in the web app. Before it is enabled, the app shows the categories and amount of locally saved data that would be copied. If you enable it, row-level access controls are used so signed-in users can access only their own saved-well, Tally Book, IWCF progress, and My Kit records. Pausing sync does not itself delete an existing account copy; the web app also provides a separate action to remove those account copies while keeping the browser copies.
How We Use Information
- To provide reference, calculator, training, saved-well and community features.
- To understand which app sections are useful and improve future releases.
- To operate community features, show posts/replies, and support moderation.
- To investigate reported content, bugs, data corrections, and support requests.
Community and User-Generated Content
Community posts, replies, chat messages, nicknames, expert questions, and reports may be visible to other app users or moderators depending on the feature. Do not post confidential company information, personal data, live operational instructions, or safety-critical well details. Community content is peer experience only and does not replace company procedures, permits, risk assessments, or site-specific instructions.
Analytics
The app may use simple first-party usage counting through Supabase to record section opens using a random install identifier. This is used to improve the app and decide which sections to maintain. It is not used for advertising.
Sharing and Selling Data
We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data for third-party advertising. Data may be processed by service providers used to run the app, such as Apple, the web-hosting provider, Supabase and Paddle, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
Cookies and Browser Storage
The web app uses browser storage for essential sign-in, local saved data and preferences. It does not use this information for third-party advertising. Clearing browser storage may sign you out and remove browser-only wells, notes or settings that have not been synchronised.
Data Storage and Security
Local app data is stored on your device or in your browser. Community, usage, web sign-in, and account-synchronised data may be stored in Supabase. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Do not upload or synchronise confidential company information unless you are authorised to store it in the service.
Your Choices
- You can delete local saved data by removing the app or clearing browser storage.
- You can leave account sync off, pause it later, or use the in-app action to remove saved-well, Tally Book, IWCF progress, and My Kit copies from your account.
- You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- You can avoid community features if you do not want to submit posts, replies, nicknames, or reports.
- You can contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of community or account data linked to you.
Your Data Rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to ask for access to personal data linked to you, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Contact us first if you would like help with an account-data request.
Children
The app is intended for professional, adult users in well services, training, and related field operations. It is not directed at children.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as the app changes. The latest version will be posted on this page.
